Specifications for mid-range QWERTY BlackBerry R10 leak

It has been generally accepted that the BlackBerry Q10 will be the hot ticket of the new BlackBerry 10 devices. The Z10 made its impact, but the manufacturer, known for its gold-standard QWERTY handsets forced the QWERTY faithful to wait a few extra months before they could dig their thumbs into something new.

Not everyone was thrilled however with the possibility of the Q10 being priced higher than the Z10 in some markets and it is possible that may have put a damper on some folks’ ambitions to upgrade to BlackBerry 10.

While there has been some conjecture as to whether BlackBerry would cater to the mid-range handset audience with BlackBerry 10 as it has in the past with numerous iterations of the BlackBerry Curve line, it is becoming more apparent that a mid-range BlackBerry R10 device is inching closer to reality. To which market and when is anyone’s guess.

Some new images have surfaced in China of the R10, along with some purported specifications for this Curve-esque QWERTY BlackBerry:
  • 3.1-inch display, 720 x 720 resolution
  • 5MP rear camera, front camera
  • Support to shoot up to 2560 x 1920 resolution photos
  • 2G of RAM
  • 8G internal storage
  • 1800 mAh non-removable Battery
  • BlackBerry 10.1 OS
Thanks for the heads-up!

comScore sees Apple’s Q1 market share up in US

The comScore market analysis group has released its findings for the three month period ending in March of 2013. Apple has seen the biggest point change among all of the manufacturers polled, with a 2.7% increase in market share amongst smartphone OEMs.

Samsung, which is enjoying widespread success in the global market, was the only other OEM which was able to post an increase.

When it comes to smartphone platform market share, the same 2.7% increase is reflected, at the expense of Google and BlackBerry’s own mobile OS’s, which dropped 1.4% and 1.2%, respectively.
Apple now holds 39% of the smartphone market in the US, with some 53.3 million subscribers using Apple iOS devices.
