Sam Fell will direct the movie, written by Jay Longino and "The Sitter" team of Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka.
Exclusive Media has come on board to produce and co-finance Sam
Fell’s action-comedy "Skiptrace," which will pair action icon Jackie
Chan with rising star Fan Bingbing ("X-Men: Days of Future Past").
"Skiptrace" will be produced as a Sino-Foreign co-production by
Exclusive Media and Talent International, which will also co-finance the
film.
In addition to starring, Chan will produce "Skiptrace" with David
Gerson. Project was brought to Exclusive Media by Cyrte Investments’
Charlie Coker, who will act as executive producer on the film along with
Cyrte.
Exclusive Media is handling international rights to the film and will
present the film to buyers at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Damien
Saccani will oversee the production on behalf of Exclusive.
Based on Chan’s original idea, "Skiptrace" is written by Jay Longino
and "The Sitter" team of Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka. Story
follows a Hong Kong detective (Chan) who is tasked with tracking down a
mouthy American gambler on the run from his creditors. The men form an
unlikely partnership and attempt to take down Hong Kong’s most notorious
criminal, while embarking on a wild journey through some of China’s
most scenic and exotic locales.
“After a career spanning 40 years, Jackie Chan is at the top of his
game and we are delighted to be partnering with him and our friends at
Cyrte on 'Skiptrace' – it’s a fun, action filled script and has the
hallmark of a blockbuster hit,” said Exclusive's co-chairman Nigel
Sinclair and Guy East.
WME represents both stars, as well as Longino, Gerson and Talent International. Fell ("Paranorman") is repped by UTA.
